We Have Aurora Activity Tomorrow

We have Aurora Activity tomorrow. A long narrow coronal hole is earth facing today. We should start to see Aurora into the evening of the 13th. Predictions at this point are a KP 5 . As this coronal hole wraps back around the sun it should continue for several days.

There are 6 sunspot regions behind this coronal hole. All within the alpha and Beta class ranges. All CME activity is falling in the B and C class range. Unless we get some sudden development, I would not say they will be of much help.

Minnesota and Wisconsin are to have clearer skies early in the evening on 13th. Some parts of lower Michigan will see some clearing around 2 am. Northern lower Michigan can expect some partly cloudy skies. Unfortunately, a recent wobble in the Jet stream is drawing down colder weather. As a result, we are still stuck in the evening clouding pattern. Next Monday and Tuesday we are expecting a cold snap getting into Teens. After that, we should start to see Mid 30 to Mid 40 for the next 10 days. We unfortunately still have a few bouts of snow coming through the 26th. The cloud cover is not expected to clear much. At least not until the Jet stream stops wobbling so drastically.

While this wobbling jet stream is raining on Aurora hunters parades, it is making storm chasers very happy. These wobbles are causing deep pockets of cold air to be drawn down lower in the US, in intermittent patterns. Typically allowing for warm moist air from the gulf to bounce up higher. This set up is perfect for Tornado Outbreaks. Which we have been seeing the last few weeks.
